The Soma Pilates Method

The Soma Pilates Method draws its name from somatics, emphasizing internal physical awareness and the lived experience of the body from within. This approach roots the method in a deeper mind–body connection than standard Pilates training. Somatic principles encourage practitioners to feel and sense movement patterns—not merely perform them—allowing corrective alignment, refined neural engagement, and mindful muscle recruitment to guide each exercise rather than relying on external imitation alone.

This somatic framework is supported by a strong foundation in anatomy and biomechanics. Movement is organized around principles of joint alignment and stability, efficient load transfer, and coordinated force production across the kinetic chain. Muscular force vectors and fascial continuity are carefully considered to promote balanced strength, mobility, and resilience. By integrating classical Pilates principles with contemporary movement science, the Soma Pilates Method cultivates intelligent, adaptable movement that enhances performance, reduces injury risk, and supports long-term physical wellbeing.

Why choose
Momentum Pilates Academy?

Jenny’s training completely changed how I understand and teach Pilates. I finally see the body as an integrated system instead of isolated parts, and my clients feel the difference in every session. I’m teaching with more confidence, clarity, and purpose than ever before.

Training with Jenny and Camie felt both grounding and expansive. They created an environment where learning anatomy, movement, and teaching felt human and applicable, not overwhelming. My confidence as an instructor and my relationships with clients have grown in ways I didn’t expect.
